Applications are reviewed by an AMMF volunteer, background checks are performed, vet and personal references checked, and a home visit is performed by an AMMF volunteer with applicant and all family members living in the home. All dogs older then 5 months are spayed/neutered, all shots up-to-date, microchipped, wormed, heartworm & lyme tested. Adoption fee for dogs older then 5 months is $295. Puppies up to 5 months old, the adoption fee is $300.00. Dogs and puppies who go to homes that have other pets and/or children, will stay on a foster-to-adopt basis for at least two weeks to insure that everyone adjusts well to each other and then if all is well, the adoption is finalized, which includes a legally binding contract signed by all parties. If for any reason, at anytime, the family cannot keep the dog, then he/she comes back to AMMF.
